A BRIEF HISTORY

Stanfield, Thomas & Associates, LLC has been in business in Bristol since 1988. Principals Stephen Stanfield and Robert "Bob" Thomas formed the firm after having operated separate tax preparation businesses for several years in the Bluff City area. In the late 80's and early 90's the firm was primarily dedicated to tax preparation services and operated from a variety of locations in Bristol.

In the late 1990's, the firm expanded it's operations and began offering a full range of services including bookkeeping, federal and state reporting, payroll services, client billing anf non-profit financial reviews while continuing to offer tax preparation services for individuals and small businesses, including partnerships, LLC's, and corporate returns.

We were one of the first firms in Bristol to offer electronic filing for federal and state tax returns to our client base. Presently clients receive free electronic filing for tax returns prepared by the firm.

We serve a variety of individual and business clients, covering retail, service, professional, and religious sectors throughout the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia area. The firm assists a number of religious and not-for-profit organizations and specializes in taxation for ministers and religious workers.

We also provide assistance in small business startups and in retirement and estate planning, and business consulting. The firm offers free initial consultations. The firm's mission continues to be to provide quality, professional, personalized financial and tax services at affordable prices.

The firm's expansion has continued with the addition of additional staff, including Crystal McDuffie, Ginger Alvarado, Stephanie Wood, Roxanne Mullan, Alicson Ault and Judy Stanfield to better serve our clients.

In 2002, Bob Thomas began a well-deserved semi-retirement while continuing his other civic and religious activities. Presently, Stephen Stanfield is principal and owner of the firm.
